White Opalite Tumbled Semi-Precious Collectible Gemstone
Illuminate your collection with the ethereal glow of this White Opalite Tumbled Semi-Precious Collectible Gemstone, a captivating fusion of crafted beauty and metaphysical charm. White Opalite, also known as Opalized Glass or Sea Opal, is a man-made semi-precious material designed to emulate the iridescent sheen of natural opal. Scientifically, Opalite is a synthetic glass primarily composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), the main component of quartz, blended with dolomite and metal oxides, such as titanium or aluminum, under controlled conditions. This mixture is heated and cooled in a vacuum or high-pressure environment, creating a translucent, milky-white stone with a subtle, opalescent play of light that shifts in hues of blue, green, or pink. Sourced from manufacturers in China or India, this tumbled Opalite (measuring approximately 0.75–1.25 inches and weighing 5–15 grams) is polished to a smooth, glossy finish, accentuating its luminous, moon-like glow, making it a stunning addition to any gemstone collection or display.
Unlike natural opals, which form over millions of years through silica-rich water deposition in rock cavities, Opalite’s synthetic nature ensures consistent clarity and durability, with a Mohs hardness of approximately 5.5–6, slightly softer than quartz. Its opalescent effect, known as adularescence, results from light scattering within its internal structure, creating a glowing, ethereal quality that captivates crystal collectors.
Tumblestones are created by tumbling and polishing rough crystal pebbles to reveal their natural colour and beauty. This finish gives the stones a lovely soft feel which makes them perfect for meditation, display or simply is a nice object to hold in the hand.
Due to the tumbling process, each stone will be unique in shape, size and colour.
