The Naviculæ Dial Pin is an altitude dial, signed by the French mathematician and cartographer, Oronce Finé, 1524.
It was given this name because of its shape that resembles a small ship, “Navicula from Veneto”.
Its fanciful appearance does not affect in any way its conceptual rigour and relates it to the Regiomontanus quadrant.
The original piece is at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum, Milan.
Attention to detail, historical interest and its beautiful design is brought to life in this Naviculæ pin. This instrument allows you to carry around a fantastic piece of historic science and represents a time of exploration and astronomical wonder.
Non-functional item.
The Naviculæ Dial Pin measures 22mm in height, 25mm wide and 1.8mm thick.
