A magnetic compass is a nautical instrument whose use was fundamental in the development of navigation and cartography in the 16th century. This model has been decorated with images of original maps from the renaissance.
The magnetic compass allowed navigators to calculate the coordinates that allowed geographers and cartographers to define the position of any point on the surface of the Earth.
The compass measures 100mm across and 58mm thick.
Material: Beech and oak wood (naturally waxed and polished) with plastic glass over the magnetic compass.
Hemisferium products are handmade ornaments with limited functionality, made primarily for decoration purposes. As they are handcrafted there may be small imperfections.
